A little more about me

Welcome to my page. I love to hunt and fish. I used to go fishing with my dad since I was very young, even though he was an avid hunter he never took me along on a hunt, it just wasn't as popular to take a girl hunting in the early to mid 70's. I had the opportunity to take my dad out on a bowhunt with me a few years ago and it was fun to have him watch me hunting, the only downer was a deer came in and I was so pumped about the deer and dad sitting there that I missed!
That was the last time I was able to take my dad hunting, now with his health he can no longer go, but he tells that story about our one hunt all the time.

When I met my husband Tom he got me started on bowhunting for deer and I loved it. My hubby actually got to see me shoot my first deer. He had been sitting in a spot with no activity and I had been sitting in a large clearing and all the deer were coming in at an angle that got me busted every time. So, I told Tom to hang his stand on the opposite side of the clearing and he would have an awesome shot. Well.......what do you know that very day he is in his stand and I am in mine and along comes a deer in the direction I wanted them to come in!!!! Tom is looking in the opposite direction, I draw my bow down on the deer and my hubby finally looks at me like "what are you doing" and then he sees the deer, its a doe. I let my arrow fly and.....contact. The deer takes off running right under Toms stand and drops 30 yards away! What a rush. My first deer and my hubby is there to see it! It was wonderful being able to share that moment with him, especially since he was the person to teach me to use a bow and to hunt!

Many years later we started bird hunting with our first dog Casey who is a Drahthaar. I now have my own hunting dog to train (Missy) she is a 3 month of German Shorthaired Pointer. We love to hunt for Pheasant and Grouse and the occasional Rabbit. Casey really doesn't care what we hunt as long as she gets to go when the gun comes out of the gun cabinet! She is awesome on the birds and the bunnies and is a hardworking hunting dog!
